Postmaster Pete — Privacy Policy

Postmaster Pete — by Potions and Familiars LLC

Effective date: May 18, 2026

Overview

Postmaster Pete is an educational math game for mobile devices. We take your privacy seriously, especially because our app is designed for children ages 8–11. This policy describes what data the app handles and how.

Data We Collect

Postmaster Pete does NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers operated by Potions and Familiars LLC. All gameplay data stays on your device.

The app stores the following information locally on-device using AsyncStorage:

  • Player profile name — a nickname chosen by the player (never transmitted off-device).

  • Avatar selection — a cosmetic choice stored locally.

  • Game progress — current trail position, score, gold, and inventory.

  • Math performance data — topic accuracy stats used to personalize practice recommendations.

  • High scores — per-profile best scores.

  • Settings — sound, music, read-aloud (TTS), dyslexia-friendly font, and difficulty preferences.

Data Sharing

We do NOT share any data with third parties. The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics services, and no network calls initiated by Potions and Familiars LLC. All gameplay data remains on-device.

Accessibility Features

Postmaster Pete includes two optional accessibility features that you can enable from the Settings screen. Both are turned off by default.

  • Read Questions Aloud (Text-to-Speech) — When enabled, the app uses your device’s built-in text-to-speech engine to read math questions aloud. On iOS, this uses Apple’s on-device speech synthesizer. On Android, this uses whichever text-to-speech engine you have set as your system default; some Android text-to-speech engines may transmit text to provider servers for processing, depending on the engine’s own privacy policy. Potions and Familiars LLC does not receive, control, or store any text-to-speech data. The math question text spoken aloud contains no personal information.

  • Dyslexia-Friendly Font — When enabled, math problems and on-screen text are displayed using the OpenDyslexic typeface, which some readers find easier to read. This setting is purely cosmetic and is stored only on-device.

Children’s Privacy

Postmaster Pete is designed for children in grades 3–5 (ages 8–11). We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by:

  • Not collecting any personal information from children.

  • Not requiring an internet connection to play the game.

  • Not including advertisements or in-app purchases.

  • Not including links to social media or external websites within the game.

  • Defaulting the optional Read-Aloud feature to off, so no text is sent to any text-to-speech engine unless a parent or player explicitly enables it.

Data Deletion

Players can delete their profile and all associated data at any time from the Profile Select screen within the app. Alternatively, clearing the app’s data through your device’s system settings or uninstalling the app removes all stored information permanently.

Third-Party Services

Postmaster Pete does not integrate any third-party services that collect user data on behalf of Potions and Familiars LLC. The optional Read-Aloud feature relies on your device’s system text-to-speech engine (see the Accessibility Features section above). The app otherwise operates entirely offline once installed.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
